Anime shops in Osaka are mostly in three areas (Den Den Town in Nippombashi, Umeda, and Shinsaibashi), and Kyoto’s are mainly around Shijo Kawaramachi, with Nintendo and Pokémon shops in both cities. This guide also covers the Nintendo Museum shop, and it is for travelers staying in Osaka or Kyoto, or visiting Universal Studios Japan or the Nintendo Museum.

- For secondhand goods, doujinshi, and figures, go to Den Den Town.
- For official series shops, go to LUCUA SOUTH in Umeda and to Shinsaibashi.
- In Kyoto, start at Kyoto Takashimaya S.C. T8.

Den Den Town (Nippombashi)
Den Den Town (“Nippombashi DenDenTown” on the shopping street’s official site) is the shopping street along Sakaisuji, and Nippombashi Ota-road runs parallel to it on the west. For example, Mandarake Grand Chaos is 6 minutes’ walk from Ebisucho Station (Osaka Metro Sakaisuji Line), and K-BOOKS Namba Ichibankan is 5 minutes from Namba Station (Nankai).
The street’s tourist information center offers currency exchange, luggage storage, and guide maps in English and other languages.

Umeda
LUCUA SOUTH (10F–13F)
LUCUA SOUTH is connected to JR Osaka Station. Floors 10F to 13F are a character shopping zone called “LUCUA Character World,” where 32 new shops are opening. Most of the new shops open on November 24, 2026.

Entry: For a while after the opening, you’ll need a lottery entry or a numbered ticket to enter 10F–13F. LUCUA will post the details on the page above.

TV station shop: MBS headquarters in Chayamachi has Raion Daily Store on 1F, a souvenir shop with original goods sold only there (according to Osaka’s tourism site).
Shinsaibashi and Namba
Shinsaibashi PARCO and the main building of Daimaru Shinsaibashi stand next to each other and are connected, near Shinsaibashi Station. Both are open 10:00–20:00.

Places that need a ticket
Nintendo Museum shop (Uji)
The Nintendo Museum shop, BONUS STAGE, is inside the museum and is open only to ticket holders. It sells Nintendo goods, including items only sold at the museum, and limits how many of each item one person can buy.
- Tickets: Apply for the lottery on the official site. You’ll need a Nintendo Account, a phone number, and a credit card. Adults 3,300 yen (about US$21), junior high and high school students 2,200 yen (about US$14), elementary school students 1,100 yen (about US$7). Prices include tax, as of November 2026, and dollar amounts use the November 6, 2026 exchange rate. Preschoolers are free.
- Resale: Tickets bought through resale, or passed to anyone other than the registered visitors, can’t be used.
- Hours: Shop 10:00–20:00 (last entry 19:45). Closed on Tuesdays (Wednesday if Tuesday is a holiday) and December 30 to January 3.
- Getting there: 5 minutes’ walk from the East exit of Ogura Station (Kintetsu Railway Kyoto Line), or 8 minutes from the North exit of JR Ogura Station (JR Nara Line). The museum asks visitors not to come by taxi or car (access).
Universal Studios Japan
Super Nintendo World goods are sold at shops inside the park and on the park’s official online shop. Outside the park, Universal Studios Store is on 3F and 4F of Universal CityWalk Osaka.
Before you go
Opening times: Many shops in Den Den Town open between 11:00 and 12:00. Some shops open at 12:00, for example:
- Mandarake (all stores), K-BOOKS Namba Ichibankan, MELONBOOKS Umeda Store, and Lashinbang’s two Kyoto stores
- KOTOBUKIYA and JUNGLE on weekdays (11:00 on weekends and holidays)
Crowds: Nintendo’s stores may hand out numbered tickets for entry on busy days such as weekends and holidays. LUCUA SOUTH 10F–13F needs a lottery entry or a numbered ticket for a while after it opens.
Adult material: Secondhand shops and doujinshi shops in Den Den Town and Umeda can have adult (18+) sections. Some countries ban adult material, including drawings, from being brought in. Check your country’s customs rules before you buy.
Tax-free: animate Osaka Nippombashi, MELONBOOKS, Lashinbang, Bic Camera Namba Store, and Joshin Super Kids Land Main Store mark tax-free shopping on their store pages or ads. SURUGA-YA’s four stores in this guide are on SURUGA-YA’s list of tax-free stores. Shinsaibashi PARCO and Daimaru Shinsaibashi mark it shop by shop. At Kyoto Takashimaya S.C. T8, Kyoto IP Shoten and Mandarake Kyoto Store handle tax-free in the shop. Nintendo KYOTO isn’t on the building’s tax-free list. Tax-free shopping changed on November 1, 2026.
