Anime shops in Tokyo aren’t only in Akihabara and Ikebukuro. Shinjuku, Shibuya, Harajuku, Nakano, and Oshiage (Tokyo Skytree) each have anime shops grouped in a few spots. This guide is for travelers who want to shop for anime goods in the area where they’re staying or sightseeing.
In short:
- In Shinjuku, go to Shinjuku Marui Annex. In Shibuya, go to Shibuya PARCO and MAGNET by SHIBUYA109.
- For secondhand goods, go to Nakano Broadway.
- Akihabara, Ikebukuro, Tokyo Station, and Odaiba have their own guides.

Shinjuku
Most anime shops in Shinjuku are in Shinjuku Marui Annex, near Shinjuku-sanchome Station.

Oshiage (Tokyo Solamachi)
Getting there: Right by the East and West gates of Tokyo Skytree Station (Tobu Skytree Line), and by Exits B3 and A2 of Oshiage (SKYTREE) Station. From Asakusa, it’s 3 minutes on the Tobu Skytree Line with no transfer (Tokyo Solamachi).
Hours: 10:00–21:00. Some shops keep their own hours. The entrance to Tokyo Skytree is also on 4F.

Crowds: Nintendo TOKYO may hand out numbered tickets for entry on busy days such as weekends and holidays.
Adult material: Secondhand shops and doujinshi shops can have adult (18+) sections. Some countries ban adult material, including drawings, from being brought in. Check your country’s customs rules before you buy.
Tax-free: animate Shinjuku, animate Shibuya, MELONBOOKS, Lashinbang, and Bic Camera say on their store pages that they offer tax-free shopping. SURUGA-YA Shinjuku Marui Annex Store is on SURUGA-YA’s list of tax-free stores. Shibuya PARCO marks Pokémon Center SHIBUYA, CAPCOM STORE TOKYO, THE GUNDAM BASE SHIBUYA, and RADIO EVA STORE as tax-free on its floor pages. MAGNET by SHIBUYA109 marks ONE PIECE MUGIWARA STORE, MEDICOS SHOP, the Crayon Shin-chan shop, and Bandai Namco Cross Store as tax-free, and has a tax-free counter on B2F.
