Most Japanese anime stores online ship only within Japan. But some do ship to other countries, some run separate international sites, and some point you to a forwarding or proxy service. We checked 20 online shops from Japan in November 2026 and sorted them by how you can order.
In short:
- AmiAmi, HMV, CDJapan, and Yodobashi Camera ship from Japan themselves (with limits by country).
- Animate and Premium Bandai sell to other countries through separate international sites.
- Many stores ship only within Japan, and some say in their terms that they may cancel orders sent to a forwarding address.
Table of Contents
Stores that ship internationally
| Store | What we found |
|---|---|
| AmiAmi | Order on the English site and they ship from Japan. Available shipping methods depend on your country. Shipping is calculated when all items are ready to ship. Pre-orders can’t be quoted in advance because their size and weight aren’t set yet. |
| HMV | Ships by EMS, except to the US. Shipping starts from ¥1,550 as of November 2026 (about US$10 at the November 6 exchange rate; your cost is shown on the order confirmation screen). Credit card only for international orders, and you pay any import duties. |
| CDJapan (run by Neowing) | An international store. Shipping to the US by EMS, registered airmail, and airmail has been suspended since August 26, 2025, and postal shipping to Germany is also suspended. Check their shipping notice for your country. |
| Yodobashi Camera | Ships to the 48 contiguous US states and some areas of China. From other countries, email them in English or Japanese for a quote before ordering. Some items can’t be shipped. |

Stores with separate international sites
- Animate: Does Animate ship internationally? Not from its Japanese online shop, which delivers only within Japan. Animate International (animate.shop) sells to other countries, with prices in your currency that include duties, taxes, and shipping. Animate says it also carries Animate-only bonuses and limited editions there.
- Premium Bandai: The Japanese site doesn’t ship outside Japan or let you register with a non-Japanese address. Bandai points customers in Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Singapore, and North America to the international Premium Bandai (p-bandai.com).
We haven’t checked whether every item from the Japanese sites is also on the international sites.
Stores that point you to a forwarding or proxy service
These stores mention a forwarding or proxy service in their own guides:
- Melonbooks: “We don’t ship to overseas directly. However, you can use external services to have products delivered to your country.” Their English guide explains how items go to an address in Japan and are then sent on to you.
- Toranoana: Their page explains ordering to a tenso.com address in Japan, which then ships by EMS. Credit card only, and the store doesn’t handle loss or damage outside Japan, or returns and exchanges after delivery. The page looks old, so the details may have changed.
- Shochiku Store: Doesn’t ship outside Japan itself, but its guide mentions WorldShopping, a proxy purchase service.
- HMV: Besides its own EMS shipping, it mentions WorldShopping, a proxy purchase service.
For these and other ways to order, see our guide on how to buy from Japan.
Stores that ship only within Japan
These stores deliver only to addresses in Japan. Some of them also say in their terms that they may cancel orders sent to a forwarding address or bought for resale, so a proxy or forwarding service may not work for them.
| Store | What their terms say |
|---|---|
| Animate (Japanese site) | No temporary addresses such as hotels or third-party addresses. Bans resale, and may refuse orders that look like resale. |
| Gamers | Bans use for resale or profit, and may refuse such orders. The site shows a tenso.com banner, but its terms don’t allow third-party addresses, so we’re not sure how the two fit. |
| A-on STORE | May cancel orders sent to logistics warehouses, forwarding centers, or PO boxes, or that look like resale. |
| Bic Camera | Bans buying for resale, and may refuse or cancel such orders. |
| Yamada Denki | May cancel orders it judges to be for profit or resale. |
| TSUTAYA | No PO boxes. May cancel large orders of the same item by the same person. |
| Jump Characters Store | Bans resale and other commercial use. |
| Pok辿mon Center Online | Bans resale for profit. |
| Tower Records | Ships only within Japan. We found no rule about resale or forwarding. |
| Aniplex Online | Ships only within Japan. We didn’t find their terms on resale. |
| Akaikumasan | Doesn’t ship outside Japan. We didn’t check their terms on resale. |
We couldn’t confirm whether Seven Net Shopping ships outside Japan, but its terms say it may cancel orders sent to PO boxes or forwarding services without notice, and ban resale.
Based on each store’s terms and FAQ, checked from Japan in November 2026. Terms can change, so check the store’s own page before you order.
Do you get the store bonus?
Many of these stores give their own bonus (tokuten) with a release. Some international orders can come with one too:
- AmiAmi’s English site lists items “w/AmiAmi bonus.”
- CDJapan has its own bonuses, such as “CDJapan Exclusive.”
New to store bonuses? See What Is Tokuten?
Amazon.co.jp is another option
Some items on Amazon.co.jp ship directly to other countries through AmazonGlobal, including some editions with Amazon.co.jp exclusive bonuses. See How to Order from Amazon Japan to Your Door.
What we haven’t verified
We’re based in Japan, so we can’t test ordering from other countries ourselves. We haven’t verified:
- Whether Rakuten Books ships internationally (we found news articles, but not an official page)
- Whether Seven Net Shopping ships internationally
- Good Smile Company’s shipping: its official shop has been under maintenance since October 23, 2026, after unauthorized access, with no date to reopen
- Whether the international sites carry the same bonuses as the Japanese sites
- Whether the bonus is always included in international orders
