30th anniversary Art Book of Pokémon Video Games developed by GAME FREAK BOOK1
This is one volume of a three-volume art book for the 30th anniversary of the Pokémon video game series, published in Japan by Overlap. It collects artwork from the games developed by GAME FREAK, from Pokémon Red and Green (1996) to Pokémon Legends: Z-A and its Mega Dimension expansion (2025): pixel art, 3DCG, illustrations, promotional art, and design materials, including design materials that have not been published before.
The series is supervised by The Pokémon Company and GAME FREAK, and edited by Shusuke Motomiya. The three volumes run to about 1,500 pages in total, and each volume ends with a long interview with GAME FREAK creators. The text is in Japanese.
Book 1 (488 pages) covers Red and Green (the first pair released in Japan; outside Japan, the first pair was Red and Blue), the Japanese Blue, Pikachu (released outside Japan as Yellow), Gold and Silver, Crystal, Ruby and Sapphire, FireRed and LeafGreen, Emerald, Diamond and Pearl, Platinum, and HeartGold and SoulSilver. For each game, the book covers the packaging, title screens, Pokémon, characters, fields, memorable scenes, promotional art, and design materials.
It comes out in Japan on December 18, 2026, and the three volumes are sold separately.
Each volume is B5 size (about 18.2 x 25.7 cm, or 7.2 x 10.1 in) and printed in full color.
