Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Vol. 12 Special Edition with Special Short Story (Japanese)
The Japanese special edition of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Volume 12, published by Shogakukan and bundled with a special short story (prose). The manga and the short story are in Japanese.
The story’s Japanese title, 奏送 (sousou), is a play on words. The series’ own Japanese title, Sousou no Frieren, uses 葬送 (sousou), a word for a funeral send-off. The short story keeps the same reading but swaps the first character for 奏, “to play music,” so the title reads as “a send-off in music.” The story was written by another writer under the supervision of Kanehito Yamada, the manga’s original author.
The short story is not only in this book. It can also be read in Japanese on the official website of the Frieren anime (linked below). In Japan, this special edition (特装版) is the way to have the story in print; the regular edition of Volume 12 is sold without it. In Japanese, the bonus is listed as 特別短編小説 (special short story).
