This page explains what information Japan Grail Digest (japangraildigest.com, “we”) collects and how we use it. We don’t sell anything on this site, and we don’t sell your information.
Analytics and cookies
We use Google Analytics 4 (through Google Tag Manager) to see how the site is used, such as which pages are read and which links are clicked. It uses cookies and collects things like the pages you view, your approximate location, your browser and device, and how you found the site. These cookies are set only if you agree in the cookie banner. See How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
The cookie banner is run by CookieYes. It saves your choice in a cookie and keeps a record of it as proof of consent. You can change your choice at any time with the cookie settings button. See CookieYes’s privacy policy.
Our own counts
We count searches and page views on our own server, without cookies:
- Searches: the words, the number of results, and the date.
- Page views: the page and the date. No count is sent if your browser has Global Privacy Control turned on.
These records do not include your IP address and are not linked to you. To avoid counting the same visitor twice and to stop abuse, a scrambled (hashed) form of your IP address is kept for up to 10 minutes and then deleted. We keep the records for up to two years and use them to see which goods and pages readers want.
Amazon.co.jp
Japan Grail Digest is a participant in the Amazon Associates Program. When you click a link to Amazon.co.jp, Amazon may use cookies to record that you came from this site, so that we can earn a commission on qualifying purchases. We do not receive your name, address, or what you bought. See Amazon.co.jp’s privacy notice.
Content from other servers
Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, and some product images are loaded from Amazon. When they load, your browser connects to those servers, which receive your IP address. See the Google Fonts privacy FAQ.
Comments and email
Comments are open on Diary posts only. A comment is saved with only the name and text you enter. We don’t ask for your email address. Comments are reviewed before they appear and are public once approved.
If you email us, we use your email address and message to reply. If you tell us about buying from Amazon.co.jp from outside Japan (for example, your country, how long delivery took, or what you paid), we may add it to our guides as a reader report. We never publish your name or email address, and we don’t add you to a mailing list.
Server logs
Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (such as IP address, the page requested, and the time) for security and to keep the site running.
